Docusate Sodium Paediatric Oral Solution is used to treat and prevent constipation in infants and children by softening hard stools and making bowel movements easier and more comfortable. It can also be used as part of preparation before certain X-ray procedures under medical guidance.

Who Is Docusate Sodium Paediatric Oral Solution Suitable For?

This stool softener is suitable for children aged 6 months and older.

Do not use Docusate Sodium Paediatric Oral Solution if your child:

  • Is under 6 months old
  • Is allergic to docusate sodium or any other listed ingredients
  • Has abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or suspected intestinal blockage

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if your child:

  • Has any history of hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI)
  • Has phenylketonuria (PKU) – due to aspartame content
  • Is taking other medications for constipation

How to Use Docusate Sodium Paediatric Oral Solution

  1. Measure the correct dose using an oral syringe or spoon provided.
  2. Mix the dose with a little water or a flavoured drink such as fruit juice or milk if needed.
  3. Give the medicines to your child within 30 minutes of preparation.
  4. Administer usually three times a day, or as directed by your healthcare professional.
