About Hylo Night Eye Ointment

Hylo Night Eye Ointment (formerly known as VitA-POS) is a smooth, sterile ointment designed to provide intensive lubrication for dry, irritated eyes while you sleep. It contains Vitamin A (Retinol Palmitate) 250 IU/g, a natural component of the tear film, which helps the ointment blend with the eye’s natural fluids to protect the corneal surface. By forming a long-lasting, comfortable film, it prevents the eyes from drying out overnight and stops the painful sensation of eyelids sticking or grittiness upon waking.

Hylo Night Eye Ointment is completely preservative-free and phosphate-free, making it an excellent choice for those with sensitive eyes or those who require long-term symptom management.

What Is Hylo Night Eye Ointment Used For?

Hylo Night is used to relieve symptoms of “dry eye” by improving the tear film and protecting the surface of the eye. During sleep, we do not produce enough tears, which can cause the eyes to become dry and inflamed. This ointment provides a stable, lipid-rich barrier that remains on the eye for many hours, ensuring the eyes stay moist and the eyelids can move without friction when you wake up.

Who Is Hylo Night Eye Ointment Suitable For?

Hylo Night is suitable for all ages, including children, and is safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Do not use Hylo Night Eye Ointment if you:

  • Are allergic to Retinol Palmitate, wool fat (lanolin), or any other ingredients
  • Are currently wearing contact lenses

Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:

  • Are using other eye medications (leave at least 15 minutes between applications)
  • Have an eye infection or serious eye injury
  • Experience severe, persistent eye pain

How to Use Hylo Night Eye Ointment

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly and remove the cap.
  2. Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid with one finger.
  3. Hold the tube upright and squeeze gently to place a 1cm strip of ointment into the gap (conjunctival sac).
  4. Slowly close your eye to allow the ointment to spread.
  5. Replace the cap tightly. To avoid contamination, do not let the tip of the tube touch your eye or any other surface.

If using during the day, your vision will be blurred for a short period. Do not drive or operate machinery until you can see clearly.

Possible Side Effects of Hylo Night Eye Ointment

Because it is preservative-free, side effects are very rare, but may include:

  • Temporary blurred vision immediately after application
  • Mild, temporary stinging or redness
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (in people allergic to lanolin)

If you experience significant discomfort or a lasting change in vision, stop use and consult an optician or doctor.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use the ointment while wearing contact lenses. Remove lenses before use and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting them.
  • Wait at least 15 minutes between using Hylo Night and any other eye drops.
  • The tube should be used by one person only to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Do not use after the expiry date.

Storage Instructions

  • Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
  • Discard 6 months after first opening.
